Welcome.........
these days have not been making so many sculptures & for the last year I have been focused on writing songs & recording my first solo album...well I say solo, but, without the wonderful talents of both Paul Johnston @ Rhythm Recording Studios & the glorious strings played by Marion Fleetwood, the record would be a different story - I love exploring soundscapes with vocals - the songstory I developed for my Open Book project has now grown into a double album, soon to be ready for mixing.
The physical copies will include my illustrated song book 'Open Book'. I can't wait to share this with you.
SNITTLIFE - gig
Saturday September 7th Snitterfield, near Stratford Upon Avon.
Playing songs off the yet unreleased album with the extra ordinarily talented Marion Fleetwood, plus surprise Special Guest - on stage at 5pm - but whole day is set for great music & fun & love.
Hope see you there - Keep music live:)

Song Story-a project exploring narrative through audio/visual, ceramics & textile print
Song Story: making, connecting, healing.
Crafting the story narrative was an exploration of falling notes, words, and feelings that became the song ‘Open Book’. This song is core to these works, it is a metaphor for grief: the half-finished book is open, pages ahead lay blank.
These works are the indexical outcomes of the processes representing my creative practice journey through song craft, stitch, and ceramics. The Open Book narrative is woven into audio/visual song story with moving drawn images, book sculpture, mixed media panels and ceramic sculpture, all tracing my healing path through making and connecting as the world becomes shrink wrapped to one defining incalculable moment of unexpected loss.
The hope of making connections with myself and others runs through the core of my practice. I love sharing stories, processes, and outcomes, and all the joy that manifests through these practices. There is a simple but beautiful quote which powerfully conveys this often emotionally charged state: ‘Making is connecting’ (Gauntlett, 2011). As human beings we all have an ability to invent and create, be it in varying degrees, and this creativity could be seen as one of the most intrinsic aspects of being human.
The song Open Book became the core of my recent body of work created whilst studying for my Masters in Contemporary Craft at HCA.
